How To Check If Your Computer Can Run a Game

Computer gaming is not as easy as console gaming. Computer gaming has links with computer hardware. If you have a computer with weaker graphics card or with old configuration, then before buying a game's DVD or downloading a game, I think you should check if your PC can run this game or not.

Basically gamers use gaming computer and gaming computers are designed in such way that is can run the updated and latest game too. Laptop are normally not made for gaming purpose.

Test If Your Computer Can Run a Game

Firstly you need to have some basic idea about computer configuration. If your computer don't have Dedicated NVIDIA or AMD's Graphics Hardware and If your computer has built in graphics card in your motherboard then you will not be able to play the maximum high graphics games.

In most laptop Intel Onboard graphics is used, which is fairly less expensive and this graphics hardware consume less electricity. Even the latest Intel Onboard Graphics Hardware is weaker than NVIDIA or AMD's graphics unit. If your computer have only Intel Onboard Graphics Hardware then perhaps you will not able to play new games in the lowest graphics settings.

Check Your Computer's Specification Manually:
You need to know your computer specification to know whether a game will run in your computer or not. Normally it is most important to know about CPU speed, Size of RAM and Graphics card details. You can find this information in different way.

Anyway I think the easiest way is using system information tools to know a PC specification. In this case I like Speech software. And there is a related post in this site How To Get PC Information Using Speccy.
  • Point You Need To Concern About:
  1. CPU Speed- which is measured in Megabyte or Gigabyte unit.
  2. Size of RAM- it is also measured in Megabyte or Gigabyte.
  3. Model number and the capacity of your Graphics Card.

After knowing the specification of your PC, now you need to know the system requirement of the games that you want to play. Normally you will find Games system requirement from Games DVD or the site from where you have downloaded the game.

Check Your Computer's Specification Automatically:
  1. First get the software from here System Requirement Lab Detection.
  2. Then Install the software and Run it.
  3. Then click Run Detection button. Then it will scan your PC system information and will send the information to this site which will be used to compare your PC configuration with Game configuration latter.

  5. Than automatically your browser will open and take you to the www.canyourunit.com.
  6. Here Search and Select the game that you want to play and click Can You Run It button.

check can you run a game
That's it, Now after analysing your Computer capability to run the game this site will show the result that you can play the game on your PC or not.
