Recently I have done my Term Paper work on MS Word 2007. My college had given some requirement to do that task. At that time had to customize the MS word default settings. From my experience I will try to show customization procedure.
What is Default Settings Of MS Office:
Now the question is what is the MS office default settings. When you open a new document in any program of MS Office (Suppose MS Word 2007) then you will get the following settings of the document by default.
- Paper Size: (width:8.27" height:11.69")
- Align Text: Left
- Orientation: Portrait
- Margin: Normal
- Font: Calibri (Body)
- Font Size: 11
- Font Style: Normal
- Line Spacing: 1.15
- After Spacing: 10 pt
- And many more...
Normally above mentioned points are called MS word default settings. Developers try to use the common settings as the default settings of the MS Office, So that the user don't need to change the settings always.
Customizing The MS Office Default Settings:
Though maximum task can be done in MS office with default settings. But if your task requires custom requirement then you need to modify the MS office default settings.
There is a Default button in some dialogue boxes of MS Office. Click on the Default button to make the custom settings to default settings.
Customization Process:
There are than 100 dialogue boxes approx. From where you can customize the default settings. It almost impossible to to show the customizing process of all settings. So, that here I am showing one example of MS Word default settings customization. I would like to show the customization of default settings of Page setup in MS Word 2007.
Note: Default Settings and Options varies from version to version of MS Office.
- First Run your Microsoft Word.
- Then click on Page Layout option.
- Then click on Page Setup button. (See the below image)
- Here in Page Setup window you will get three option named Margins, Paper and Layout.
- Now customize the Margins, Paper and Layout of the page as you need and click OK to apply the change.
- If you want to make the page settings default then just click on Default button located at the Left bottom corner of the window and click Yes to confirm it.
That's it. From now when you open new documents on MS Word the you will get the custom settings of the page as you have customized.
