How to Hide and Unhide Folders/Files (Windows PC)

You may have already got an idea that what I'm going to discuss in this post, Yes in this post I'm gonna show how to hide and unhide folders or files on windows PC. Also may be laughing by thinking about the necessity of this post. Although most of you may know how to hide and unhide folder or files. But there are many beginners who don't know how to hide and unhide folders and files in windows PC. And personally the most common question that I face from the new users is about hiding and unhiding files or folder in PC. So, today's post is dedicated to them.


Hiding a file or folder means you don't want others to have the access in that particular file or folder. There might be several reasons for what you want to block the access. Most probably PC's users use this feature to secure the private and important document. Hiding and unhiding method is almost same in all versions of Windows. So, following method is applies to any Windows Version. Let's see the procedure...


Hiding a Files or Folders:
  • First got to the location where the file or folder is located that you want to hide. (Example: G drive Movie folder)
  • Then click Right Mouse button on the file or folder you want to hide and choose Properties.
  • Now Mark the Hidden option and click OK.

That's it now this files or folders will be Hidden. If you want to view the file or folder back again then follow the steps below.


Unhide the Hidden Files or Folders:
  • First go to the Folder Option from My Computer. XP users will find this under the View menu. 
  • Then click on View in Folders Options.
  • Then Select Show Hidden Files and Folders and click OK.
  • Now you will be able to see the Hidden Files or Folders.
  • Then click Right Mouse Button on the File or Folder that you want to Unhide and choose Properties.
  • Now Unmark the Hidden option and then click OK.

That's it, Now the file or folder will be Read only and you will be able see that file or folder again.
