How to Make Bootable Windows Disk by InfraRecorder!

Create Bootable Windows Disk
Most of you're familiar with Bootable Windows Disk. As I am writing about Boot Windows Disk for the first time, that is why I want to share some basic information about this. A Boot Windows Disk is sometimes called Startup Disk. It is a type if removable media like floppy disk, CD, or DVD, that contained Windows startup or Installation files, You can Install windows in your PC directly from Booted Windows Disk. In this post I'm gonna show how to make Bootable Windows Disk.

Suppose you have a Windows Disk, but it is not bootable. Then you can't use it to Install windows in your PC. Even if you are able to start installation, but it will be stopped after reboot. It is because your windows disk is not bootable. That means you can't install windows from a non bootable windows disk. So, you have to create a Bootable Windows Disk to Install windows in your PC.

In this post I am using Infra Recorder as burning software to create bootable windows disk. You can also use Nero Burning tool. Whatever you use its up to you. But I am showing the procedure which applies to Infra Recorder. Let's start the procedure...

Required Tools:
  • Windows Installation CD/DVD. (Any Version)
  • Bank Recordable CD/DVD Disk. (CD disk for Windows XP only)
  • At least one DVD Writer. (Better if you have Two)
  • A Burning Software Nero or Infra Recorder. (I'm using Infra)
  • Finally a PC with sufficient system according to the Windows requirement.

Creating Windows ISO Image File:
  • First Insert the Windows DVD disk into the DVD writer.
  • Then Run Infra Recorder. (Download InfraRecorder if you don't have)
  • Then from Menu bar click on Action > Copy Disk > To a Disk Image...
    Copy Data Disk
  • Then another window will open like below. Here...
    • In Source: select the Windows DVD disk drive location. Normally it detects the drive automatically
    • Then in Image File: choose the location where you want to save the Windows ISO image file.
      Copy Image File
  • Now click on OK button.

The task will take a few minutes to complete. After completing this task Eject the Windows DVD disk from the PC and Insert the blank DVD in the drive. A single layer DVD is usually 4.7 GB in size. Try to use a good disk to have better durability. Then Follow the next steps...

Burning Windows ISO Image to Blank DVD: Now you will have to Burn the created Windows ISO image file to the Blank DVD. There are two way you can burn it. One is by Infra Recorder and other one is directly by your current windows (if it supports) without using any third party software. Let's see the both methods...

By Infra Recorder:
  • First Run Infra Recorder again.
  • Then from Menu bar click on Action > Burn Image and select the created Windows ISO image file from the PC and click on Open button.

    Infra Burn Image
  • Then Choose the drive which contains blank DVD and click on OK button.

The burning process will start immediately. Wait till the process is completed.

By the Current Windows:
  • Click Right mouse button on the Windows ISO image file and choose Burn Disk Image.
    Windows Built in Burner
  • Then a window will open. Here Choose the drive which contains blank DVD and click on Burn button. And the burning process will start.
    Windows Disk Image Burn

That's it after the burning process is completed your Bootable Windows Disk will be ready. Now you can use this Windows Disk to install windows in any PC. If you face any problem, please don't hesitate to leave a comment.
